I think I have a solution....

In this image I've superposed the image without
wavelets to the one with wavelets, and I've masked
the new layer with the luminance of the image
(but I've had to tune the mask with curves).
The resulting is the image with wavelets in the
pixels with more noise, and conserving the
sharpness of the stars of the image without wavelets.

What do you think? This looks better, isn't?
