Re: [APML] Orion vs Celesron
Hi Don:
Heck, these are a lot better than my first couple of shots! As far as
practical suggestions go, I would concentrate on better polar alignment to
get rid of the field rotation (you're close!) and better focus. Focussing
for film has always been a problem and you find a lot of proponents of
knife-edge focussing as THE best. It probably is, but I could never get the
hang of it. I settled for using the B&K AstroFocuser. It only works on
Olympus OMs and the Nikon FM2n (as far as I know), but it works well and you
can use it with film in the camera. There are also some processing tricks to
consider after you have the mechanicals down a little better.
Keep it up, you've got a good start!

Hello all,
Well, here it is. My first venture into prime focus. Lets just
say that I have alot to learn! :-) The accompaning two photos where taken
Sat. night at Tierra Del Sol (SDAA club site). While seeing was about as
good as I have seen it, transparency was terrible. Couple that with dew that
arose very quick, then promptly froze, it made for a difficult night for a
rookie. I have a 3rd shot of the Rosette that I'm not even going to show any
of you..I'm so ashamed! *L*

Please, feel free to comment...I could use all the help I can get.
BTW...I really like the Supra 400...
