I used to work in an industrial flexible packaging plant. Most of the
time when there are minor alterations to the packaging, it means
nothing. Graphics guys are always trying to improve the selling power
of their products, and crap like this 'starburst' do the trick.
"Improved" is perceived to be better than the old stuff. It's just
marketing. 

To answer your question as best as I can; not that I know of. Today I
will put a roll of the new stuff in and try to duplicate my shots from
last night that came out of the old packaging. However, I won't be able
to get any developing and comparisons done until next week. If someone
can move faster than that, please go for it.
