AW: [APML] Precise alignment of a 500 mm lens and a guidescope
Hi Emmanuele,
concerning the MTO as a guiderscope I would suggest: Stay away from it.
It makes a very poor guidescope. It is very heavy and difficult to mount
rigidly. It's focus mechanism prevents the use of adjustable rings at
the front end of the MTO. Get yourself a small achromatic refractor with
a solid, lockable rack & pinion focuser and some adjustable rings from
Losmandy or Baader. I've tried the MTO as a guidescope myself. It is a
pain to use. It is a good fotolens but as a guidescope it is no good.
Best regards
Andreas
