Re: [APML] Aurora Photography Advice
Hi Rick:
For some reason I can't confirm the usual URLs for aurora shots, but I know
that Stan Richards, Dave Robinson, and Jerry Lodriguss, among others, have
had good aurora shots on their websites. I can recommend:
http://home.datawest.net/jkolb/aurora.htm
http://home.knuut.de/morlak/Aurora/high/auhien.htm
You might also try the Google Image search function.
There were a large number of spectacular shots from last Fall's aurora shows
on the web, including some great ones from Scandinavia. Sorry I can't dig up
those links!
>From my own brief experience with Canadian auroras and the above websites,
I think you'll find that the usual recommendations are for ISO speeds of
400-800, f2 to 2.8, and 10 to 20 sec exposures, or up to 40 sec or even
more if the display is relatively stable.
Hope this helps...let us know how your trip works out.

Subject: [APML] Aurora Photography Advice
My wife and I are planning a trip to Alaska in March to observe and
photograph the Northern Lights. What films would be best to use? Any
recommendations on shutter speed?
TIA,
Rick
