RE: [APML] A Really Tough Dilemma

My dad "dabbles" in astro work.  I suspect he will want to do some, but he will not be out all night.  I have done some successful imaging on my C8 Deluxe, but I can see where it is troublesome.  I would like an Astrophysics 900 mount myself, but the cost when converted to Canadian dollars scares me a bit.

I would seem that those on this list, and others I have posted too, feel that the Meade is really a visual scope.  I think my dad would like the flexibility to do both (visual and photography).

Is it a difficult transition to GEM from a fork mounted scope?

Thanks again

He has his sights on the Meade 10 inch GPS.  I have some reservations about it because it is so new (nothing against Meade from me).  I am also nervous about the hand controller every going and leaving the scope unusable (could you use a laptop to control in this case?).  Maybe too gimicky I don't know.

Does he want to image or just use it visually?
