I tend to agree with Matt-
only the largest chips are "astronomically" priced. Also it still takes alot
of skill to come out with a great shot. You could say the same thing about
film imagers also, but your blanket statement is suprisingly narrow minded.
Think about how much a year you spend on film and processing, and it adds up
to alot (for color film anyway). your holding pattern is completely self
imposed. My total cost of imaging equipment including my ST-7E is @ $5000
US. so i don't have an ST-10ME. Big deal. I chose to either shoot small
objects at high resolution (c9.25), or larger objects on my small scope
(TV-85). that doesn't hinder at all what i can shoot, and i can compete very
nicely with those $30-50K investments on alot of subjects.
