Gil,
Maybe I can help... yes, you are
not hypering the film. RG200 when hypered correctly should exhibit a bit of
"browning" in the unexposed, clear areas of the film compared to unhypered film.
If you end up with a "bluish" color... you have over-hypered the film and it
will be dead. This film does not do its magic act unless it has been hypered
correctly.
My guess as to why you are not
getting any hypering is two-fold:
1. you are not getting all the air out
of the chamber before you are inserting the hypering gas.
2. Once the hypering gas is inserted,
it is leaking out.
Soooooo.... let's try
this: Vacuum out the air as best you can, then fill the chamber with hypering
gas. Repeat for a total of three times. Next, insert the gas at around 5 psi
over ambient pressure and leave the cylinder on... if there is a slow leak
in your system, the cylinder will replace the escaped hydrogen. Of course if you
have a bad leak, you won't have anything left in the cylinder and this will tell
you something...
Only use 24
exposure film if you are doing the hypering in the casette. My guess is that you
need to go 2.5-3.0 hours at 50 C. in your set-up.
If after doing all this you
still see nothing, get back to me.
Have a good one,
Tony
