At the expense of starting another Microsoft jihad I will say that I have
had no problems with a machine running ME.  I also had it come with a new
machine over a year ago.  Have been using it recently with scanning software
for an SS 4000 but not with processing software.  I keep it updated when
they are available from MS.  Recently jumped the memory from the original
128meg to 512meg with no problems.  It recognized the new memory immediately
and has worked fine ever since.

But just as with everything, sometimes they work and sometimes they do not.
You just have to judge for yourself and go from there.
