To John K, other STVers and eFinderites,
Though it doesn't seem as if we've identified any consistent and common
parameters yet, I thought I'd pass along an evening of testing's results. I
won't say anything about the hour and a half drive or the clouds that rolled
in within an hour of setting up!!
For my eFinder/GM8 setup, it seems completely
inconsequential whether calibrating at 2x or .5x. As I'd reported, I'd
gotten 'Error: Star Field' 75% of the time upon auto calibration.
Tonight looked like a major breakthrough. A long
calibration time of 15 seconds in 'Full Menu' yielded
success nearly every time. (An occasional 'No Move' was seen?) The exposure
was also cranked to 5 seconds, but this was probably the clouds'
fault.
Maybe next month I can even take a photo!
