Re: [APML] Tv-85 & Losmandy rings
Hey Phillip,
I will only be adding the weight(8lbs.) of the OTA. This weight will be able
to move wherever it's needed as I can slide it up or down along the length
of the plate. Plus the fact that the camera body won't be hanging off the
very end of the optical train(NGF-S, Taurus T III, OM-1 body) will help a
lot. Meade conterweights on the bottom coupled with using reduced slew
sppeds at all times will save wear & tear. I believe total add-on weight
will be well under the recommended 20 lbs. All of the other items were on
the scope when drift aligning was done.
Anyway, I'd like to thank you for your advice. I didn't listen about the
OTA, but I will regarding the rings.:-)

>>>I would go with the 105's which I believe you will find much easier to
live
with. Still recommend against adding this weight and bulk to the
under-geared and under-driven LX200 12". Since you've chosen to move
ahead, however, strongly suggest giving careful consideration to how you
will balance the unit thus configured.<<<
