[APML] ST-4 and Lumicon focal reducer

I searched the archived but didn't get a clear answer on this:  Does a out-of-the-box ST-4 work with a standard (non-gemini) G11 mount is additional hardware needed?  I have been told that the ST-4 requires its own 12v power or isolation from everything else - is this true?  Thanks!
