[APML] teleconverter lens questions

Hey list,

I need some info on teleconverters. I'm not familiar with them, so be
patient. My questions are: what do they do and under what conditions would
they be used. Also if used what are the advantages and disadvantages.

FYI, my setup is an OM1 with a 50mm f/1.4 and 135 f/2.8. I also use a
pro-optic 500mm f5.6 with a 350mm f/4 converter.
