[APML] IC1805/48, Pleiades and Witch Head

Hi all,

I have three new images on my web site:

- a mosaic of IC 1805 (the "Running Dog Nebula") and IC 1848
- a 3 image stack of the Pleiades
- and a 3 image mosaic/stack of the Witch Head nebula (this one
seems to have become a very popular target recently - I hope you
did not get bored yet ;-) )

The Witch Head was a special problem, since I had 3 exposures with
a partial overlap. Traditional stacking in Photoshop, GIMP, or
similar programs would have left me with an image showing only the
part covered by all three exposures, while stitching (essentially
cutting and pasting the individual images with feathered edges) would not
have averaged the images in the region where they overlap.
I ended up writing my own software to do this task.
How are you other APML'ers doing this - stitching and stacking at the
same time?
