this was first light on my new mount, an AP1200GTO
I used the AP180EDT f/9 with a field flattener and 0.75x telecompressor for
a 1215mm focal length at f/6.75
I also used a Robofocus for focusing (first light on the robofocus and
field flattner for the ap180)
the goal is a tricolor ha shot of this region, which i shot also back in
february of 2004 (http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/herbig_haro_34_page.htm)
this is the present work and is 4 x 45 minutes of Halpha shot through a
50mm AR-coated AstroDon Halpha filter (6nm FWHM)
I haven't used my AP180EDT much since I got the 6303 camera but when I did
I saw I had problems with stars in the corners. So I bought AP's flattener they
make for the 180EDT f/9 like i have and this is the first tme I have used it. I
also added a Robofocus to the scope so there were several things being tested
for the first time.
I discovered I was having trouble with some stars in the upper right and
lower right corners but the left side was fine.
this morning when I shot my flats I found that the hot zone was not
centered. I did a bit of investigation and think I need to collimate the AP.
I've not ever collimated it and I bought it second hand a few months back so who
knows when it was last checked.
HH34 is the bowshock at the end of the Waterfall (upper right from center)
while HH222 is the Waterfall itself as I understand it.
NGC1999 is the odd nebula in the lower middle.
