Re: [APML] autumn milky way

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for all the comments. I just corrected the wrong
caption Jason discovered.

Scott, I usually use my own method to remove vignetting. I still
prefer my own method. However, it requires another computer (a UNIX
workstation) that is not in my house. To get the process quickly
done,
this time I just use PixInsight (the standard version) at home. The good
thing about PI is that it can handle sky gradient quite well. My method
is optimized for telescope field of view but is not good for such wide-field
picture where sky gradient becomes as strong as the vignetting pattern.
The residual vignetting that Chris mentioned is caused by an imperfect
removal of sky gradient. However, if I show the original image, people
will agree that PixInsight already does an excellent job. I believe the
standard version of PixInsight is worth a try, after it becomes available.

In addition to the nebulas that Chris mentioned, I also noticed another
faint and quite extended nebula in the lower-right corner of the image.
It is perhaps in the southern part of Lacerta. Does anyone know which
nebula it is?

Cheers,

Wei-Hao
