RE: [APML] autumn milky way

Excellent work Wei-Hao. Not bad for a "flawed" image. <g> I haven been
working with PixInsight and trying to learn how to use this software, it is
not for the faint of heart, but not unlike trying to learn PS from scratch.
You were using your own techniques before you used PI, correct?

Subject: [APML] autumn milky way

Hi everone,

It has been a few months since last time I took pictures. I just realized
that I still have a picture from this summer not being scanned. I scanned
it and did a quick process. Here it goes:

http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~wang/gallery/picutres/autumn_mw-2004.htm

The vignetting pattrern removal is a combined effort in PixInsight and
PhotoShop. The background model was generated in PixInsight and then
subtracted from the original image in PhotoShop. The most challenging task
in the image processing is curve stretching. E100S has very high S/N and a
dynamical range far exceeding my monitor's capability. I cannot figure out
a perfect way to demonstrate the depth on the slides and in the 16bit image.
Perhaps I just didn't try hard enough.

I don't think this is a flawless image. Hope I will have time to reprocess
this image soon. Any comments are welcome.

ALOHA,

Wei-Hao
