Re: [APML] OT question about Canon 10D

Hello,

I have been playing around a bit with the 10D and (despite the low Ha response) I like it as an astrophoto camera.  The only special steps in processing my pics was to use ImagesPlus software because it allows you to use color dark subtraction (all the other image processing programs require a grayscale image).  This dark subtraction is important to do because you will see "amp glow" in any long exposures.  This refers to the slight magenta illumination that appears on the right side of the image.  It is easily corrected.  After combining all of the images, the only other processing I do is Levels and Curves in Photoshop.

Regarding your question about other digital cameras, it appears that
the Canons are the overwhelming favorites, as you can see from the
gallery link above. Maybe that in itself is the highest endorsement.

I'm glad this is marked OT. 8-)

Can anyone who has used one of these camera provide a quick ckeck list of the steps taken when using one for AP? I'm very interested in the future AP potential of these cameras and am wondering if they're simple enough for even me to use.

Thanks,
Alan
