Glenn,

Because I would prefer the convenience of a DSLR for terrestrial
pix, I'll be trying out the 10d or Rebel, although Ted Ishikawa at Hutech
says you'll have to manually focus daylight shots for best results with
the modified version.  I have no experience with these cameras as
used for astrophotography, but the deciding factor in my case was
that they can be used in the daytime as well. (As opposed to SBIG, etc.)

Regarding your question about other digital cameras, it appears that
the Canons are the overwhelming favorites, as you can see from the
gallery link above.  Maybe that in itself is the highest endorsement.
