Howard,
This should almost be a direct
email to you but I'll post it publicly and then shut up ... looks like there are
two mind sets at foot here ... people who prefer to live within boundaries, be
it their car club, their astrophotography medium, or whatever, and people who
embrace a larger universe ... I am not saying one is any better than the other
... but there is a difference in outlook between the two. This may be a source
of irritation but too bad ... that's what builds a strong democracy. I certainly
accept your position but please understand that I don't want to be limited
by it ...
As for the APML ... I have
been to the SBIG list sponsored by Yahoo ... what a joke! To view anything you
have to endure an advertisement from Yahoo each time you want to see anything
... what a bunch of BS ... The SBIG list is great, but the medium of delivery is
terrible ... to the extent that I seldom go on it. We owe Gene a huge THANK
YOU for keeping the APML free from all that garbage.
If you go on the SBIG
list, you will see a long series of names that were once film people ... their
migration from the APML to the SBIG list is our loss ... if you insist that
anything involving a CCD be removed from the APML, you will eventually be a
hollow shell as films are no longer made that will work for astrophotography ...
is there currently a good color negative 120 film being made like PPF 400
or the great Fuji films of years ago? I'm not aware of any ... what will you do
when there are no more films? Sit around and talk about the "good old days" ...
? I guess you could then say that only recollections of film be allowed as
topics for discussion ...
Tony
