[APML] Film V CCD
My personal feelings are that this list should be restricted
to film discussions only (and if it makes any difference I've
been personally only shooting CCD this year.) However there
have been good points made by enough members that discussions
of CCD processing techniques are on topic as for the most part
they are identical to what most people are doing with their
film work. So from the listowner's perspective I have stated
that CCD-related posts that contain processing information
(which can be on the linked web page) are acceptable.
I see no reason to change this position.
Regarding Rob Gendler - when Rob joined this list he prompted
some very good discussion regarding processing tri-colour
images. And IMO contributed a great deal of helpful information
that is applicable to digital processing of film images. When
asked he still provides much usefull information. While I
frown on the "look at my latest pretty ccd picture posts" even
if some of Rob's posts may cross the line in being off topic
in my personal view he would have to sin far more than he has
to date to offset the goodwill he built up in the beginning.
About other "here's the latest pretty CCD image" without
any other usefull information - I'm going to have to start
cracking down on them.
One thing that would help the SNR is if the members are going
to send an "attaboy" ("good image" for those non-USA members)
PLEASE send it via direct to the poster rather than to the list.
If the "attaboys" and complaints weren't sent to the list then
the few non-Gendler CCD posts would have mostly faded into the
background.
