[APML] OT: PC UPS system

Are there any opinions on the best uninterruptable power supply for a PC
system?
I bought a APC UPS one year ago and when my system was plugged into it, it
became dog slow... almost to a crawl.  After finding I did nothing wrong
during installation, I determined it was just a POS.  I boxed it up and
returned it.  Anyone else have experience with APC products?
