Hello,
It turns out that my SS 120 was
not broken ... the aberration that I saw in the extreme Dmax areas of a chrome
scan was caused by the film not lying perfectly flat ... this is easily
corrected by using the glass carrier and indeed, the problem vanished (thanks to
the Microtek people for helping me with this).
So anyway, I now have one too many
scanners ... my SS120 plastic front does not stay on very well ... it's a
cosmetic thing so I have it taped on ... other than that it works very well and
I'll check the scanner again prior to shipping it. I would like to
give the APML folks first shot at it ... I would like $500 plus shipping costs
... that's about 1/4 what it cost brand new ... if interested or have questions
