RE: [APML] OT: porm spam flood
I tend to doubt it's tied to this list, though obviously I could be wrong. I
haven't received any spam in quite some time despite being on APML for
years.
I had a minor spam problem for a while. I followed the advice of those on
this list and installed SpyBot Search and Destroy, PanicWare pop-up blocker,
and SpamPal. These are all free-ware and work excellently. I was quite
pleased with SpamPal. It caught virtually everything making it easy to
delete the mess en masse.
That said, my minor spam problem (minor compared to some of the horror
stories I've heard here) went away totally when I changed ISPs, hence
eddresses. It seems someone was using a long defunct eddress of mine for
nefarious purposes. The forwarding had never been halted, though it should
have been. It actually took some effort to get that turned off but once I
did the spam disappeared completely and hasn't returned.
Short of changing eddresses, I doubt there's much to be done except
utilizing something like SpamPal to catch it for you.
