         My mother did that - lasted for about a week before teh spammers 
"found here" agian - and she does not subsribe to newsgroups.   I cannto 
say for certian, but from indirect evidene, I think, cannot prove, but I 
think spyware installed on your machine (see www.lavasoftusa.com ) can 
harvest our e-mail address.

         On another bit of a tangent, saw a statistic on TV last night - it 
is etimated 2.5 billion spam e-mails for pronography alone are sent each 
day wordlwide.  Thsi does not include spam e-mails for drugs, Nigerian 
money transfers, etc,e tc.
