Hi Marco,
I quite like the embossed effect. Sure, when you look closer you can see
that the shadows are all fake, but at a short glance I think it's very
visually appealing. One thing I would try and do though is to apply a
little bit of sharpening to the images (after the embossing). The
2000x2000 image in particular looks a bit soft.
