I know shooting exposures up to 330 minutes on my LX200 has seriously
warped my judgement, but it also gives me another perspective. Faster
optics also mean a wider FOV. That's fine, but it also gives me a
smaller image of the desired object. So I don't think a faster scope
will be the main objective.

I have another question: Does the 'Extender Q' help the hot spot
problem with the 106?

Thank you both for the excellent answers and tons of info.
