RE: [APML] OT: Question for Canon 10D owners

Hi Stuart,

I just got a 300D and had one night to run a quick test before my wife and
kids made me put it away for Christmas (it's my big present this year.) I
set up the camera and my TV85 on a (roughly) polar aligned CG-5 and took a
series of two minute shots of M45. This was just intended to check the
noise and sensitivity to reflection nebula so forgive the tracking. I did
shoot several darks and used ImagesPlus for dark subtraction and image
stacking. Also keep in mind that this was shot from my backyard in Las
Cruces with no LP filtering. I compare the image to a recent Supra 400 shot
taken under dark skies at one of the nearby state parks. It's by no means a
carefully controlled comparison but I did try to avoid doing much processing
other than to try and match the background rgb levels of the images.

I'm very impressed with the Rebel and FWIW I think it's going to be a great
astro camera.
Dave
