My Polaroid 120 scanner bit
the dust ... needs to go in for repairs ... so I took a chance and bought the
Microtek version of this scanner ... in case you didn't know, Microtek has
been building all the Polaroid scanners lately ... the reason that I sprung
for a new scanner is that the new scanners can do multisampling up to 16X. The
software that came with the scanner from Microtek basically sucks ... the real
surprise was the Lasersoft Silverfast Ai version 6.0 that comes bundled with
it ... all I can say is WOW !!! Whereas I used to hate Silverfast, they
have really got their act together ... the new software is fast, intuitive,
and powerful. It is a total joy to use with this scanner and gets the job done
via Firewire ... something else the Polaroid never seemed to get
right.
Because this scanner has
better S/N via the multisampling feature and the additional benefits of the
new Silverfast, I have decided to rework some of my images ... just hope I can
find those negatives stashed away in the cobwebs ...
