The same math applies to
multisampling IMHO as in any other noise situation ... the gain is in the square
root of the iterrations ... at 16X you'll see a 4X gain in the S/N. I have tried
it at the various settings ... 8X is good if you just want an improvement, but
16X really shows a difference. How this will apply to astro stuff I don't know,
but with the way that we push the detail parameters this could be very
significant.
I don't know what improvements
they have made from 5 to 6 ... what I see is that all the old stuff now really
works! In the past it never seemed to work well ... now everything works like a
charm ... much to my amazement.
