Hi Rob, I didn't get you wrong, just I didn't understand your question :-)
Here is the same shot without the diffusion filter part:

I believe you are right, this lens is not completely apo but at least on
film almost all chromatic aberration is lost in film halation (yes, film is
much more forgiving than CCD)... Blue halo around belt's stars are due to
the tiny clouds ha passed during the exposure...
