RE: [APML] Film vs Digital - Misconceptions!!!
I have been using Epson pigment inks with the 2000P printer since it came
out (1-1/2 - 2 years ago?). Before that I had an Epson 1200 and used third
party pigment inks (Epson did not make any at that time) and a third party
continuous inking system.
The 1200 system was good, but very tweaky in terms of color matching, etc.
The 2000P has been wonderful.
They say the pigment inks will last 200 years (over 50 years and I don't
care anymore - this is good enough to match conventional printing; e.g. good
enough to sell). The prints from this machine are beautiful and permanent.
And Epson now makes a 7 color ink machine which is supposedly even better
(the 2200).
With proper proofing and color matching, I believe that these printers are
fantastic, with quality that exceeds conventionally-made prints, since you
control the entire process.
