[APML] M1 and Saturn in same FOV
I was alerted to this image by someone who monitors the Yahoo SBIG list.
This image was taken on 12/28 showing M1 and Saturn in the same field.
According to the caption on the photo, it is a composite, with Saturn taken
through a blue filter with an exposure of 0.11 sec using an ST-8E, and a
longer (unspecified) exposure of M1. Saturn is completely washed out at 0.11
sec. But it does give an indication of what a challenge capturing Saturn
transiting M1 will be. I will be personally amazed if anyone manages to
capture the transit without doing some sort of composite image.
