I do have to say that recently the rags seem to be getting into a rut. In
the latest S&T we have yet another M45 image, M51 image and M27 image. They
were taken by Loke, Tony and Ron W. I'm not trying to take away from their
truly excellent images, but M45, M51 and M27????? Come on! Maybe I've just

I agree Chris. While these may be excellent images in their own right, they
are getting to be a bit like my diet: not enough variety! I really miss the
"good old days" when magazines regularly published images from Martin
Germano, Kim Zussman, Scott Justis, Chuck, etc. They were black and white
images, but were images of stuff that was - for the most part - not
previously imaged by amateurs. There is a ton of neat stuff out there that
is not in the Messier list! These images inspired me to go out and beat my
own path rather than re-shooting stuff I already had, but with different
films. As I recall, I have more images of NGC4725 than I do of M42. (always
seem to have bad luck shooting 4725)
There will always be pictures of M42, 51 and 27 published - the "meat" I
suppose. I for one would like to see a few more potatoes, perhaps even a few
other veggies too. Heck, I don't even mind if they are not in colour. How
about a shot of Hickson 56? That one certainly hasn't been beaten to
death....
