That's a very nice result indeed. I guess I cheated somewhat also. I found the moons on the final image by bringing up the curves in Photoshop. I then used that as a 20% layer and pasted it on top of the original. This allowed me to "see" where the moons were in the original image. Then I used the lasso tool with feathering to select the areas where the moons were, and bring each one of these areas up with the curves. The background was then adjusted to the level of the rest of the image. The second layer was then removed, and I had a well exposed image of the planet and moons. In the original image, the background is not clipped and there are more moons visble. Unfortunately, our web master tried too hard to save bandwidth and knocked this image in the galleries section down quite a bit. I'll have to speak at him and see if we can't get a better result. Or, perhaps I should get one of these new webcams and try my hand at pasting 200-300 images together.
