RE: [APML] 'challenge'

Hello,

An interesting thread. I seem to remember back in the pre-ccd mania days that
there was a technique developed for film shots of solar eclipses. This
involved creation of a gradient filter over the scope that made the balance
happen.

Perhaps a clear filter with a spot of ultra high ND filter in the filter wheel
that the long exposure is done on, rotated out of the way and shot quickly on
the same sheet of film for the result?

Since digital imaging could be used with something like an astrovid 2000 for
the planet and an STV for the nebula could the 'live' outputs be taken from two
scopes simultaneously into a video mixer and combined there for the live shot
(is this cheating?).

This could get weird indeed!
