Re: [APML] 12" & 14" LX200

Hi Marios.
Just my opinion based on my own experience but I could not get the ST-4 autoguider to work with my Meade fork mount. It could only lock onto a star for a few seconds then it would loose it.  I think others have been successful with it though.

Dear fellow astronomers....

I would like to thank you all for all the information you provided me about the two scopes.

I have desided to go for the 12" LX200. My consideration now is should I have it with the equatorial mount or as it comes with the fork mount.

I will deffinetly do astrophotography with it. Not ccd, I do not have yet a ccd. I would do a 35mm photography and some piggyback. I do have tho a modified webcam as a ccd.
I will connect the scope with my laptop as well.

Anyway, my question is if it makes big difference with the equatorial mount than the fork mount?

Once again thank you and Clear Skies,

Dear list,

Anybody has the Meade 14" LX200 telescope or the 12" LX200?

I have sold my telescope and I will get a Meade but I'm between those two!

What are the differences between the 12" and the 14" beside the aperture?
Beside observations I will do astrophotography as well.

Clear Skies,
