RE: [APML] M31 reprocessed...
Hi Geoff,
I'm a newbie here and feel somewhat under-qualified to be giving
feedback (amongst these world class imagers) but I'll be happy to share
my opinion, FWIW.
First of all, really nice shot! Seems well focused and the tracking
looks good.
The Provia seems pretty sensitive to the blues and I also see some blue
halos around the brighter stars. I'm not sure which refractor you're
using for imaging but you might benefit from something like a Sirius
Optics MV-1 filter to reduce chromatic aberration.
As far as processing, my inclination would be to reduce the blue channel
in the lower and mid-tones to better balance the color. I'm seeing
numbers like 20, 20, 40 for the pixel (R,G,B) values in the background.
I hope this is helpful,
Great image,
Dave

Subject: [APML] M31 reprocessed...
Hello...
I submitted this image here a week ago, and got one response asking
for
specifics about the OTA. I knew the previous image wasn't that good, but
I
didn't think it was *that* bad. <g> I wasn't satsified with it really,
and
worked it over again from scratch. This time it has a nice histogram -
no gaps,
no clipping in RGB color space in the PW Pro I use for all processing.
Exposure
data is on the page. < http://home.att.net/~astropix/M_31.html >
