Hello Marious.
There's probably lots of info in the archives about
the Meade LX200's so you might want to browse those. Unless I'm a little behind
the times, Meade only makes a 12" and 16", not the 14". Celestron makes a 14"
SCT. If you want to consider the 16" Meade you are talking about a much larger
telescope and much higher cost. The focal length will also be longer and its
field of view smaller. Portability will be difficult for a 12" and impossible
(without a small army) for the 16".
There's lots of considerations: what's your
location, will your setup be permanent, how's your local seeing conditions
(larger apretures require better seeing to realize the potential of their
apreture), how much of it's use will be for visual and how much for photography,
will you ever do CCD, and more.
Have you ever considered getting a really good
large mount (like the AP1200) and going with a 12-16" newt. Having gone
from 10" LX200 to a high quality 12.5" newt with the 1200GTO mount I
can tell you the newt does a much better job both photographically and visually.
And the mount is worlds above what the LX200 drive could do. You would also
have options to add other telescopes later with this setup. But the Meade
LX200's are good value for their performance.
