 Stephen, Oh I see, so the sliders adjust the amount of smoothing for each
brightness range.  very handy.

Chris,

I just played with the sliders in "Masks" to leave the high values alone
and minimally smooth the midtones and background, then took the Radius
down in "Filter."  It required a few attempts to smooth this image...

...which needed considerable curving. The initial setting is very close
to what I ended up with.

I'm going to have to examine earlier images in light of this new SBGNR.
