Alan;
    You need to convert to a humble 8 bit image before you can save as a
jpeg. When you do, you will also notice that things like filters and layers
automagically become activated as well.

No jpeg. I wonder if this is something else that needs
to be converted to 8 bit before it can be used. My
image is still in 16 bit mode.
