RE: [APML] Vuescan question

What are you using to view the image after scanning? I forget the details
(something to do with Vuescan's tif compression algorithm), but Photoshop,
Photopaint (prior to Vers. 11), and PaintShopPro can't read the 48-bit output
from Vuescan. I do all of my image processing in Picture Window Pro. It has
no problem with either 24 or 48-bit images. The files that Picture Window
writes can be read by everyone (but the size suggests NO compression).
PictureWindow is less than $100 US, I think. Check it out at
http://www.dl-c.com/.

I've always saved all of my scans in compressed tif; you might try clearing
the TIFF compression checkbox under the FILES tab.

Hi Richard,
Crop size in manual, crop auto position not flagged, region in manual,
scanning borders framing the center of slide; but still all what I have is a
lot of vertican multicolor strips. On a landscape slide, it works perfectly.
Same scanner, on pictureview twain drive, works perfectly. Very
frustrating.... Any other hint?

Paolo

On the CROP tab, change "Crop size" to MANUAL; then do a preview scan and
drag/size the scanning borders to your actual image.

Hi all,

I just installed vuescan on my computer. I'm using it with a Canoscan
FS4000US.

The scanner works perfectly with landscape slides; with astrophoto slides it
gets confused by the very dark image, and all what i get is a a lot of
multicolor vertical stripes. Anybody know how can i tell him that i just
want my slides scanned?

Cheers,
Paolo
