[APML] PS-LZW compression?

I spent many hours working on compositing and other
fun things today. As I was closing the file in PS as a
tiff, a box came up and asked if I wanted to use 'LZW
Compression'. My brother advised yes, but he does web
pages not AP. Any thoughts on LZW?

One other thing. Is there a good way to sharpen
images, either in PS or PWP?
