Hello,
The night after I shot the
first M1 the seeing improved considerably, so I reshot the luminance for M1...
as usual, after looking at a first attempt I realized how the image could be
improved, especially since it had better resolution... the sharp stars/blurry
stars is gone and the background is very smooth for a CCD shot. This is due in
part to working extensively with Ray Gralak's Sigma processing... as mentioned
by Mike Cook, it will blow away median combining any day for better S/N... I
definitely concur after doing runs trying each method.
Now I have to flesh out the color... I doubt if my
image will be as sharp as Adam Block's because I just don't have his seeing
perched on top of Kitt Peak... but it should still be a respectable
M1.
New one at:
Onwards and
upwards,
Tony
