The final image was a two-step composite. After registering the two images
in RegiStar I did a soft light composite at about 50% opacity and I also did
a luminance composite at 35% opacity. These two images were then combined
with a normal combine in "layers" at 50% opacity. Levels, curves, and
saturation of each or both layers can be applied as needed to bring up the
detail during each interation.
Using the various layer options in Photoshop is a very important tool in
doing these TP color composites. The CCD guys have done several things with
layers and composites to get their colors right with their LRGB composites.
As Tony said, the CCD stuff is very labor-intensive on the processing end.
Maybe it's time we film guys took some steps to "catch up" with what they
have done. TP will allow us to get there; at least part way. We've certainly
got the advantage in field coverage.

Volker, again you guys have some great stuff done with some great
instruments! I am amazed at the small stars you are getting. Your equipment
is sure up to TP's resolution.
