[APML] Re: AfterEffects PS plugin/grain smoother

Hi,

I went to the site, read how this works, and tried to use the trial sample... but although I placed the software into the PS plugins folder and chose import/export, when import was opened in PS there was nothing, nada, zip... then I noticed the dire warning that this had to be installed under the AfterEffects plugin folder. I assume that this now means that you have to purchase the basic AfterEffects package in order to use the PS plugin? If THAT's the case... might as well join Mr. Perkins on the French Riviera...
I also noticed that this software:

     1. Needs to have an even and "empty" piece of film to develop a profile for the "noise" (grain)... you can't have any detail in it because then it will start attacking the detail. So with stars all over the place, we'll need to expose a blank piece of film or take the stars out of the frame so it will not
blur them.

    2.  Even in the best circumstances, this software can be too aggressive and attack fine detail, so they allow custom settings to alleviate this. If I use custom settings, then is this going to be any better than a masked Gaussian blur in PW which basically allows a lot of control of the blur?

By the way... it has been raining here constantly for almost two months... we have had no really clear skies for over 60 days... there are no high pressure cells this year, just back to back storms...I'm moving to Hawaii.
