Hi Rob and Jim,

maybe I can help.
zeta Orionis is a double star.

Magnitude of first component: 1.74
Magnitude of second component: 3.87
Separation: 2.3"

If the second component of the double is bright enough it causes double
difraction spikes. This fact can also be used as a tool to show that a star
is a double even if you can't resolve it.

Best regards
  Andreas
