Steve, I use the Vuescan with my Acer and like it alot, although it is a 
little quirky and takes a little bit to get use to but the scans come out 
real nice.  Ed Hamrick updates the software all the time, weekly it seems 
like.  I hear the Silverfast has more functions are far as editing like PS 
but you can always do that in PS later anyway.  My 2 cents worth.
