For fast F-ratios, I would agree. I've been imaging at F14.6, and there is virtually no difference in the resolution between what I can see with an eyepiece and what I can record in my images. If the night is good enough for me to see a 0.4 arc sec double, I can certainly record it also. In fact, when it comes to planetary images, I have recorded detail that I could barely see.
