I switched to the OPERA web browser (www.opera.com) and am most satisfied.
Preferences allow you to turn cookies on/off from various source, so that
they're allowed where you need/want them and blocked from others,
ad-blocker, redirection blocker, ... a variety of other privacy
capabilities.  There is even a preference setting so that, when a script
queries which browser you are using, you can set it to say MSIE5, one of
3-different Netscape versions, or as Opera.

I tried and it seems to work fine.  The IT manager at my work said, "Oh
yeah, there are all sorts of ad killers out there.  They tend to work
pretty well."

I have been very annoyed by advertising on web pages, especially the
newer pop-up ads.  This seems to be the fix.  Of course, within a couple
years, the advertisers will figure out a way to punch through the ad
killers, but for a while, we can have some respite.
